duc@website: ~/

Hello there, I’m Duc!

Student, lousy programmer, tooter, Redditor and YouTube addict.

I build and manage enterprise-scale systems, and am interested in cybersecurity and accessible designs. As a team leader, I plan and execute ideas with the work ethic and commitment to deliver high-quality results. Outside of work, I’m driven by the curiosity to break systems to understand how they work.

You can view or print my CV here, and get in touch by sending me an e-mail at duc (at) ducmbui.com.

I don’t write blog posts much, but here’s an archive of all the ones I’ve written. Please note that some posts on the blog may be localised in Vietnamese.

what I’m probably working on

On the shelf:

Contributing to open-source projects: unfortunately none at the moment!

Or I might procrastinate and watch a lot of YouTube videos instead.

how do I pronounce your name?

In Vietnamese naming customs, the surname is positioned before the given name*, and people are referred to by their first names. My full name with Vietnamese diacritics is Bùi Minh Đức, thus I am called Duc, not Bui.

Phonetic breakdown of my first name:

For English speakers, Đức rhymes with “book” or “look” but with d as the first letter (dook). To mimic the rising tone, say as if you’re asking a quick question (dook?).

I’m okay with variations of my name such as duck or zook, however.

IPA pronounication of my name is /ɓuːj˧˩ mïŋ˧˧ ɗɨk̚˧˦/.

*In legal papers where the given name is positioned first, I prefer writing my name as “Duc Minh Bui”.

where to find me

I’m ducmbui (sometimes with a 2) most places online. If you find me elsewhere that’s not on this list, chances are I did not claim that username in time :-(

You can also send me an e-mail at the address above.
